Dental Implants

Are you missing a few teeth? Wearing a denture which can be loose and rub the gums leading to ulcers and discomfort? Concerned of having a dental bridge which can sometimes require aggressive drilling of tooth structure? Dental Implants are now the gold standard for replacing single or multiple teeth. This is a permanent fixed solution in which a medical grade titanium fixture/screw fuses to the jaw bone. Once the dental implant has healed, digital scans are recorded to manufacture a custom-made tooth perfectly shaped to your mouth and teeth.

What Make Dental Implants So Great?

Compared to other dental replacement procedures like bridges and dentures, tooth implants are considered a more reliable form of prosthesis. Since implants are fitted permanently to your jawbone, they are more stable and rigid. Once in place, they will look life-like and function similar to permanent teeth.

Who Is the Right Fit for Dental Implants?

Patients that have several missing teeth, a mature jawbone, and are fit enough to undergo surgery are all ideal candidates for dental implants. Commonly, dental implants are recommended to those that suffer from dental concerns such as root fractures, tooth decay, teeth grinding and clenching.

You could also be considered an ideal candidate for dental implants in Melbourne or your area if you need to get a badly damaged tooth replaced and need a restorative option over a dental crown or bridge.

Can I Get Implants Despite Having Bone Loss?

While good bone density is needed for a dental implant procedure, those with bone loss can still derive benefit from something called “bone grafts” and “sinus augmentation.” These additional treatments build on density and volume to the jaw, allowing the dentist to reconstruct bone density. Bone grafting thus increases the treatment’s rate of success for the patient.

Bone grafts are performed at our dental practice that offers implants in Melbourne. If you are in search of a practice in Melbourne for dental implant surgery, our team can advise you on the best option.

The Dental Implants Procedure

Appointment 1: Comprehensive Medical and Dental examination. Photos, scans and CBCT x rays are taken to allow for proper planning of the procedure and assessment of your bone structure.

Surgery to place dental implant. This can be done under local anaesthetic, happy gas, IV sedation or general anaesthetic.

After 3 months of healing time – this allows for the bone to fuse the implant, digital scans are recorded to manufacture a custom tooth uniquely designed and tailored for you.
